The eye-catcher of the more than ten hectare art campus "LUMA Arles" is a tower designed by Frank Gehry. The architect was partly inspired by Vincent van Gogh's painting "The Starry Night" for the design. Van Gogh made the painting, which now hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, during his stay in Arles (1888-1889). Gehry also stated that the rocky environment of Arles is reflected in the composition. At the same time, you can say that it is a 'signature design' for the architect, in line with the Guggenheim Bilbao and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, among others.
